Ravi Raj, a mathematics teacher at a Telangana Government School, has gained popularity among students with his YouTube channel, “Raviraj Master.” Students in Classes V, VI, and VII particularly enjoy his engaging math videos.
Currently teaching at Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School (MPUPS) in Admapur, Narsapur mandal, Medak district, Ravi Raj started his channel in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. His goal was to assist students with math concepts. In 2024, upon joining the Admapur school, he noticed students struggled with basic math. To address this, he introduced fun teaching methods using board games and puzzles. He recorded these lessons and shared them on YouTube. His channel quickly gained popularity, reaching approximately 8.4 lakh subscribers.
Ravi Raj explained to Hans India that teaching online during the pandemic was challenging, prompting him to use YouTube. In 2024, he observed that students’ lack of math understanding led to increased absences. By incorporating playful teaching methods, attendance improved from 40% to 95%.
He clarified that he does not earn money from his videos, focusing solely on helping students. Over 1,500 videos have been uploaded, receiving positive feedback from students who find them useful.
With support from voluntary organizations, he has enhanced the school by adding various facilities. On humanitarian grounds, he has also provided students with ties and belts.
Recently, Dr. Yogita Rana, Telangana Education Department Secretary, reached out to him for school development. With the state’s assistance, Ravi Raj is actively working on these improvements.
