Hyderabad: Starting in May, more than 92,000 employees in the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development departments will receive their salaries on time. This improvement comes after the Finance Department approved a new system called the ‘Green Channel’ to ensure timely payment.
These employees include junior Panchayat secretaries, multipurpose workers, and outsourced staff. For the past ten years, many of them have faced delays in receiving their salaries, which also affected their work performance. Despite repeated requests to the previous government, the issue remained unresolved.
Panchayati Raj Minister Dhanasri Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, promised to fix the salary delay problem. She sent a request to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu. Following this, Panchayati Raj Secretary Lokesh Kumar and Director Srujana worked on the proposal and forwarded it to the Finance Department.
A senior official confirmed that the proposal was approved. Under the new system, staff attendance will be recorded by the 25th of each month, and salary bills will be generated by the 26th. This process will help ensure that payments are made on time.
According to officials, the new system will benefit over 52,400 multipurpose workers, 1,301 Gram Panchayat (GP) computer operators, 278 Mandal computer operators, 170 Zilla Parishad (ZP) part-time workers, and 1,330 Mandal Parishad (MP) part-time workers. All these employees will now receive their salaries through the Green Channel.
