Wanaparthy: In Buddaram village, students from the Gurukul girls’ school have been trying hard to meet the district collector. For two days, they jumped the school’s wall and ran towards the collector’s office. On Tuesday, students from Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Gurukul school in Chityala did the same when they learned the collector was visiting their school. The school staff quickly brought them back.
At the Gopalpet Gurukul, students complained about rats biting them. The district collector heard about this and told DMO Srinivas to have the students checked by hospital staff. Before the situation was resolved, students ran to the collectorate. In Chityala, tenth-grade students complained to the collector that the principal and teachers used abusive language. They accused the staff of demanding unnecessary money from their parents. They said teachers insulted them when parents visited the school.
Students also reported the food was not as per the promised menu and that repeated complaints to the principal and warden were ignored. They felt stressed because of principal Guruvayya Goud and the staff’s behavior.
Collector Adarsh Surabhi focuses on education and health, yet teachers’ misbehavior remains a concern. Teachers in Gurukul and KGBVs are accused of pressuring students and causing problems, which has drawn criticism from locals and analysts. People believe that if no strict action is taken, similar incidents might continue.
Earlier, the collector had lunch with students at the Gurukul School in Chityala and discussed their concerns. Students mentioned minor issues and asked for excursions and more sports activities. However, fear of the principal and staff led them to jump the wall in a desperate attempt to seek help.
