Hyderabad: On Friday, the Health department refuted claims by political party leaders regarding the transportation of dead bodies in boxes. They explained that the boxes actually contained samples for forensic analysis.

A statement from the Health Minister’s office clarified, “The boxes from the Sigachi industrial explosion site are being misrepresented as containing dead bodies. These are actually samples sent for forensic testing.” Samples from all deceased or body parts found at the site are being collected and sent to the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in Hyderabad.

Officials stated that DNA tests are performed using these samples and cross-referenced with the DNA of family members. Once a match is confirmed, the body is preserved in a freezer, then delivered to the family in ambulances, traveling hundreds of kilometers to their hometowns. The families of the deceased have already received Rs 1 lakh each for funeral and other expenses.
