Telangana is currently experiencing very hot weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued a heatwave alert for several districts in the state. Over the next five days, temperatures in some areas are expected to reach between 41°C and 44°C.
The districts under the heatwave alert include Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Adilabad, Jagtial, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nizamabad. People living in these areas are advised to take precautions and stay safe during peak heat hours.
Along with the high temperatures, the IMD has also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) in some districts. These include Mulugu, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Jangaon. Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam are also expected to experience these weather conditions.
In districts like Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is likely to be between 36°C and 40°C. The weather department says there could be light to moderate rain or thundershowers in a few isolated places.
Temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2°C to 3°C over the next three days. This means the heat may get worse before it gets better.
In Hyderabad, LB Nagar recorded the highest temperature at 40.1°C. Areas such as Kapra, Uppal, Hayathnagar, and Saroornagar each saw temperatures of 40°C. Most other parts of the city recorded temperatures between 39°C and 39.8°C.
Experts have warned about the impact of Urban Heat Islands in cities like Hyderabad. They are also concerned about rising Wet Bulb Temperatures, which can make the heat even more dangerous, especially in crowded city areas.
