Hyderabad experienced significant road damage due to heavy rainfall. A total of 854 km of roads in 739 locations have been affected. 25 road sections were completely cut off, but five have been fixed. Traffic has been rerouted at 228 out of 310 causeways.
Minister for Roads & Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj held a teleconference with officials to evaluate the damage. The Minister instructed officials to restore public transport quickly by fixing damaged roads and bridges. He emphasized the need for temporary repairs and asked for detailed plans for permanent fixes. Officials were told to stay on high alert and work promptly without taking leave until everything returns to normal.
Vikas Raj reported that 175 out of 232 disrupted areas have been cleared. 200 sites have been prioritized for repair, with an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore for temporary fixes and Rs 984 crore for permanent repairs.
A 24/7 control center at the Roads & Buildings Head Office is monitoring the situation. Chief Engineer Mohan Naik leads a team of four officers in each shift to address complaints from all 37 divisions in the state.
The Minister also checked on the condition of National Highways, ROBs, and RUBs. NH in-charge ENC Jayabharathi and CE Rajeshwar Reddy provided updates.
Minister Komatireddy praised the officers for their quick response over the past ten days. He urged the Roads & Buildings engineers to maintain their dedication and alertness until all critical road issues are resolved.
