The Telangana High Court has cancelled the final selection list for Group-II government jobs after discovering widespread tampering in exam answer sheets. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka made this crucial decision on Tuesday, affecting hundreds of job seekers.
The court found that the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) had evaluated OMR answer sheets that showed clear signs of tampering. Candidates had used whiteners, erasers, and other methods to alter their responses on the 150-question exam papers.
This violation directly went against earlier court orders. A Division Bench had previously told the TGPSC to follow a Technical Committee’s recommendations strictly. The committee had specifically warned against evaluating any tampered answer sheets.
Justice Bheemapaka ordered the commission to start fresh evaluations immediately. The TGPSC must now create a new selection list following proper guidelines without including any altered answer sheets.
The commission has eight weeks to complete this process and issue appointment letters to qualified candidates. The court also mandated that all future recruitment exams must follow existing rules strictly during OMR evaluation.
This ruling came after P Prasanna Latha and nine other candidates filed petitions. Another group led by Bokku Sujatha with 14 candidates also challenged the results. They argued that evaluating tampered sheets created an unfair and illegal selection process.
The affected positions were originally advertised on December 30, 2015. This long-delayed recruitment process has now been extended further due to the tampering scandal.
The decision highlights serious concerns about transparency in Telangana’s government job recruitment system. It affects hundreds of candidates who have been waiting years for their final appointments to these state government positions.
