Hyderabad Airport has seen a strong rise in passenger traffic, crossing 29.5 million travelers in the financial year 2025, according to the latest data from GMR Airports Limited.
Since November 2024, the airport has consistently handled over 2.5 million passengers every month. In April 2025 alone, the airport welcomed 2.6 million travelers, marking a 19.1% increase compared to April last year.
Breaking down the numbers:
– Domestic travel in April hit 2.2 million, up 21.3% year-over-year.
– International passengers reached 400,000, showing an 8.8% rise.
The growth continued through the last quarter of fiscal 2025. From January to March:
– Domestic passenger count was 6.6 million, a 22.9% jump.
– International traffic climbed to 1.3 million, up 20.1%.
– Total quarterly traffic stood at 7.8 million, increasing 22.4% from the previous year.
For the full year:
– Domestic passenger volume reached 24.4 million (17.6% growth).
– International passengers totaled 5 million, up 20.1%.
– Combined, this led to a total of 29.5 million travelers, an 18% increase compared to the previous year.
Several key milestones marked the airport’s performance:
– A record single-day high of nearly 94,000 passengers on February 22.
– The busiest month was December 2024, with 2.7 million passengers.
– Both quarterly and annual records matched or exceeded past performance.
The airport also expanded its global reach:
– Cathay Pacific began three weekly flights to Hong Kong starting March 30.
– Vietnam Airlines added direct service to Hanoi from May 7.
On the sustainability and safety front, Hyderabad Airport achieved notable progress:
– Earned Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 5, the highest under the ACA framework.
– Received LEED NC Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
– Launched India’s first integrated EV charging network for airlines and ground staff.
– Added 15 trained female commando officers to its security team.
