In Hyderabad, Amrapali Kata, the Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, has made some important changes to the way garbage is collected in apartment complexes. Instead of collecting garbage from each door, she has instructed officials to place dustbins in a single spot within the complexes. This change is expected to make the process of collecting garbage much easier.

On Tuesday, Commissioner Kata had a teleconference with additional and zonal Commissioners to talk about how garbage is being collected and to see how well the door-to-door collection method is working. It was found that collecting garbage in apartment buildings was not going smoothly. To fix this, residents are now asked to place their garbage in bins located at a common area in the complex.

During the meeting, officials were also advised to place dustbins in parks to help keep them clean. Additionally, the Urban Bio-Diversity (UBD) officials were instructed to plant flowers at road junctions to make the areas more pleasant for people driving by.

The Commissioner also emphasized the need to prevent littering around power transformers. She asked the relevant authorities to provide a detailed report on this issue. Another concern raised by Amrapali Kata was the presence of cattle roaming on the roads. She instructed field-level officers to take steps to prevent this, as it could lead to accidents and traffic issues.
