A 90-day special campaign will soon start to make Hyderabad free from sewage overflows, according to Ashok Reddy, Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). He made this announcement during an event at the Institute of Engineering in Khairatabad on Friday. The drive is part of a plan to improve underground water levels, as directed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The campaign will begin on October 2 and continue until December.
Ashok Reddy mentioned that most daily complaints from the public are about sewage problems. The goal of this drive is to provide long-term solutions to these issues. If the campaign is carried out well, it could reduce sewage complaints by 30-40%.
The campaign will also focus on educating the public about managing sewage at the community level. ED Mayank Mittal added that building more pits could help increase groundwater levels and reduce the need for tankers. He stressed that the role of field staff and officials will be key to the success of this initiative.
