Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asked officials to prepare a detailed plan to extend the Hyderabad Metro Rail to Future City. This major expansion was discussed during a review meeting at the Command and Control Centre in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of Metro Rail Phase-II. Officials told him that they are waiting for approval from the Central Government. They also said that discussions have already been held with authorities in New Delhi.
Phase-II will include five main routes:
– Nagole to Shamshabad Airport (36.8 km)
– Raidurg to Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km)
– MGBS to Chandrayangutta (7.5 km)
– Miyapur to Patancheru (13.4 km)
– LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km)
Altogether, the expansion will cover 76.4 kilometers and is expected to cost ₹24,269 crore. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been sent to the Central Government for approval.
The project will be a joint venture between the State and Central Governments, with both sharing the costs. CM Revanth Reddy told officials to keep pushing for approval and be ready to start work as soon as they get the green light.
In addition, the Chief Minister has ordered the planning of a new 40-kilometer Metro line from Shamshabad Airport to Young India Skills University (YISU) in Future City. Future City is being developed across 30,000 acres, and the CM stressed the importance of connecting it to Meer Khanpet to support future growth.
He also asked for a separate DPR for this new route and said it should be submitted to the Central Government. He further directed that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the proposed Future City Development Authority (FCDA) be involved in this project.
The meeting was attended by key advisors Vem Narender Reddy and Srinivas Raju, Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, and other senior officials.
This move shows the Telangana government’s strong focus on improving public transport and planning for Hyderabad’s rapid growth in the future.
