In Hyderabad, the mess facility for research scholars at Osmania University is once again in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. A video has gone viral showing students having their meals under a leaking roof in the dining hall. The students claim that water seeping from the roof is causing the dining area to become waterlogged.

Another video shows two students, one in a raincoat, collecting rainwater from the floor using a bowl. This highlights how serious the situation has become. The students say this problem has been ongoing for about a week.

They explain that these issues arise every monsoon season. Last year, some research scholars even protested, but the university administration’s promises to fix the problems have not been fulfilled. The water leakage is not just in the dining area but also affects the storeroom where raw materials are kept. The students believe the building is old and needs a complete renovation.

The students are frustrated with the situation and have complained to the university officials many times. They say the problem used to be confined to one table, but now the entire roof leaks, causing water to accumulate throughout the dining hall. This forces them to clean the floor and face difficulties while eating.

Satya Nelli, a research scholar from the Political Science department, expressed that despite their continuous requests, no effective actions have been taken to address the issue. He emphasized the urgent need for renovations, as the mess facility was built a long time ago.
