The Hyderabad City Police have busted a godown in the Charminar area for storing and selling spoiled dry fruits in unhygienic conditions. The CCS Special Crime Team, in coordination with the Food Adulteration team and Bahadurpura police, conducted a raid at Chelapura and arrested a businessman identified as Asawa Manish (42). The operation was carried out following complaints about the sale of substandard food products in the locality.
During the raid, authorities seized 30 cartons of dry fruits that were infected with fungus and emitting a foul smell. The seized items were stored in extremely unhygienic conditions, posing serious health risks to consumers. The godown operated by the accused was found to be violating food safety standards and regulations. The contaminated dry fruits were immediately confiscated to prevent them from reaching the market and endangering public health.
The arrested businessman, Asawa Manish, was running the illegal operation from his godown in Chelapura. Police officials stated that the accused had been storing these spoiled products for an extended period with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting customers. The joint operation by multiple police teams and the food safety department demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to cracking down on food adulteration in the city.
