Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad – In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Rajendra Nagar Zone Police conducted raids on illegal manufacturing units producing adulterated ginger-garlic paste under unhygienic conditions. The operations were carried out in Sasthripuram and Udangadda areas following credible intelligence inputs about the illegal activities.
During the raids, police discovered that the accused were manufacturing ginger-garlic paste using low-quality raw materials mixed with hazardous chemicals. The paste was being prepared with dangerous substances including Titanium Dioxide and Xanthan Gum, along with synthetic food colour to enhance its thickness and appearance. These adulterants pose a serious threat to public health and violate food safety regulations.
The police arrested two individuals in connection with the illegal operations. The accused have been identified as Abdul Aleem (25), owner of Standard Food Products and a resident of Bahadurpura, Hyderabad, and Jasani Dildar Ali (46), a businessman residing in Abids, Hyderabad. Both individuals were allegedly running these manufacturing units without proper licenses or adherence to food safety standards.
Authorities seized a massive quantity of adulterated products and manufacturing equipment from the premises. The seized material includes 1800 kg of adulterated ginger-garlic paste, 2 kg of Xanthan Gum, 2 kg of Titanium Dioxide, and synthetic food colour identified as Lemon Yellow. These chemicals were being used to artificially enhance the texture and appearance of the paste to deceive consumers.
In addition to the raw materials and finished products, police confiscated significant manufacturing equipment from the illegal units. The seized machinery includes 07 packing machines, 03 grinding machines, and 02 weighing machines. The equipment was being used to produce large quantities of the adulterated paste for distribution across local markets.
The operation was conducted based on specific information about the illegal manufacturing activities in the area. Police found that the units were operating in extremely unhygienic conditions, with no regard for food safety protocols or quality standards. The use of harmful chemicals like Titanium Dioxide and Xanthan Gum in food products without proper authorization raises serious concerns about consumer safety.
Cases have been registered at Mailardevpally Police Station under Crime Numbers 232/2026 and 233/2026. The charges have been filed under Section 318(4) and Section 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with food adulteration and endangering public health. The legal provisions carry stringent penalties for those found guilty of manufacturing and selling adulterated food products.
Further investigation into the matter is currently in progress, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Nagar Zone. Authorities are working to trace the distribution network of the adulterated products and identify other individuals who may be involved in the illegal operation. The police are also examining whether the adulterated paste had already been distributed to local markets and retail outlets.
