Hyderabad: On Tuesday, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand called for increased security during the city’s Ganesh idol procession. He reviewed plans for quick idol immersion and instructed officials to urge Mandap Organisers to start the process early, ensuring devotees return home safely.
C V Anand conducted a meeting at the South West Zone DCP Office in Mehdipatnam with law enforcement, traffic, and other officers to discuss arrangements for the Ganesh immersion. He emphasized that devotees should not face any trouble and insisted on strict vigilance to prevent crimes, including pickpocketing, eve-teasing, and chain snatching.
He suggested that organisers and volunteers should stay near the idols at night for added safety. Officials were told to encourage organisers to begin immersions early and ensure the safe return of devotees.
The Commissioner visited key Ganesh mandapas in areas like Goshamahal, Tappachabutra, Langar Houz, and Golconda in the South West Zone. He spoke with organisers and volunteers, advising them to take precautions due to the rain to prevent accidents. He urged all devotees and the public to cooperate with the police for a peaceful festival.
Later, C V Anand opened a new cricket practice facility at the Kulsumpura Police Quarters to support sports development and welfare among police personnel. An outpost was also inaugurated at Ganga Bowli under the Tappachabutra Police Station. The meeting and activities included attendees such as G Chandra Mohan, DCP South West Zone, K Apoorva Rao, DCP SB, R Venkateswarlu, DCP Traffic, M A Bari, DCP, and Iqbal Siddiqui, Additional DCP Task Force.
