Hyderabad is all set to host the 72nd Miss World Pageant, beginning this Saturday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, despite rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Right-wing groups have called for the event’s cancellation, but preparations are moving forward.
Over 120 contestants from around the globe have already arrived in the city. They received a warm and traditional welcome from the Telangana government, which sees this as a major opportunity to boost tourism and international attention.
The contestants will stay in Hyderabad for about three weeks, taking part in local tours, cultural events, and awareness campaigns. Their schedule includes visits to several popular sites across Telangana, including the Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a heritage walk from Lad Bazar to Charminar. They’ll also explore Pochampally village and Pillalamarri.
Due to the current border tensions, the government may adjust the itinerary for safety. Officials are deploying tight security arrangements at all venues and tourist spots the participants will visit.
The pageant kicks off at 6 PM at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to attend the opening ceremony. The grand finale is planned for May 31 at HICC (Hyderabad International Convention Centre).
In recent days, contestants have been rehearsing at the stadium under the guidance of professional choreographers and event coordinators. The opening night will feature both Indian and international cultural performances, celebrating global unity and purpose.
As part of the pageant’s social outreach, contestants will also support breast cancer awareness and prevention programs for women across the state.
On social media, the Miss World Organisation shared their excitement, stating that contestants are fully immersed in preparing for the grand ceremony. They described the event as a global celebration of beauty, culture, and humanitarian purpose.
With hundreds of media personnel, jury members, and international guests arriving for the event, the Telangana government is using the spotlight to showcase the state’s rich heritage and vibrant culture to the world.
