Hyderabad Shivers at 8.3°C as Severe Coldwave Grips Telangana, Sangareddy Records 5°C

A severe coldwave continued to grip Telangana on December 21, 2025, with temperatures plummeting across the state. Hyderabad Central University (HCU) recorded the lowest temperature in the city at 8.3 degrees Celsius, marking one of the coldest days of the season.

Several areas in Hyderabad experienced single-digit temperatures, with Rajendranagar recording 9 degrees Celsius and Moula Ali at 9.1 degrees Celsius. Other localities that witnessed chilly conditions included Alwal at 10.3 degrees Celsius, Gachibowli at 10.4 degrees Celsius, and Qutbullapur at 10.7 degrees Celsius.

The cold weather extended to other parts of the city as well. Gajularamaram recorded 10.8 degrees Celsius, while West Maredpally registered 11.2 degrees Celsius. Tirumalgiri experienced temperatures of 11.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Patancheru and Shaikpet, both at 11.6 degrees Celsius.

Neredmet recorded 11.8 degrees Celsius, while Begumpet saw temperatures at 12.1 degrees Celsius. BHEL area reported 12.2 degrees Celsius, rounding out the list of coldest locations in the capital city.

The coldwave was even more pronounced in other districts of Telangana. Sangareddy emerged as the coldest place in the state, recording a bone-chilling 5 degrees Celsius. Vikarabad and Asifabad followed closely with temperatures of 7 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Adilabad district recorded 7.6 degrees Celsius, while both Medak and Kamareddy registered 7.9 degrees Celsius. Rangareddy district experienced temperatures of 8.1 degrees Celsius, with Nizamabad at 8.6 degrees Celsius.

Siddipet recorded 9 degrees Celsius, completing the list of districts experiencing severe cold conditions across Telangana.

The persistent coldwave has affected daily life across the state, with residents experiencing unusually low temperatures for this time of year. The cold conditions have been particularly intense during early morning and late evening hours, prompting people to take additional precautions against the chill.

Weather monitoring stations across Telangana have been recording these low temperatures as the coldwave continues to maintain its grip over the region.
