Hyderabad experienced a calm Independence Day evening with the city’s main water sources, Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar, maintaining solid water levels. Authorities are closely monitoring water inflows and releases. The water level at Osman Sagar increased slightly to 1,786.25 feet (3.061 TMC), just below its full capacity of 1,790.00 feet (3.900 TMC).
The reservoir is receiving a steady inflow of 500 cusecs, and no gates have been opened, allowing it to hold water for future use. Over at Himayat Sagar, the water level is at 1,761.75 feet (2.562 TMC), nearing its full level of 1,763.50 feet (2.970 TMC).
With an inflow of 1,800 cusecs, officials are releasing 1,972 cusecs by opening two gates, each three feet high. Engineers from the Water Board are regularly checking to ensure safety downstream and preparing for more rain in the area.
Residents near the Musi River in lower areas have been advised to remain cautious, though the current discharge is manageable. The reservoirs have seen a steady rise recently and are expected to stay near full capacity as monsoon rains continue.
