The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) has successfully protected 23.16 acres of government land in the high-value Neknampur area from encroachment attempts by land mafia. The agency erected fencing around the land, valued at over Rs 2500 crores, and installed HYDRA boards on Monday.
The land in question is located in Survey No. 20, Neknampur village, Gandipet Mandal, Ranga Reddy District. Local residents had filed complaints about encroachment attempts on this valuable government property in the IT hub area.
HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath ordered a comprehensive field-level investigation involving revenue and municipal officials. After confirming the land’s status as government property, HYDRA removed existing encroachments and demolished unauthorized structures.
On Monday, the agency cleared additional watchtowers and temporary sheds before immediately setting up protective fencing around the entire 23.16-acre plot. Officials also installed boards clearly marking the area as government land.
Legal Battle Over Land Ownership
Despite revenue records clearly establishing the land as government property, an individual named Mohammed Ibrahim allegedly created fraudulent documents claiming to have purchased the land from Pakala Pochaiah. Ibrahim approached the court seeking issuance of passbooks for the claimed property.
Revenue officials conducted a field inspection following court orders and confirmed the land’s government status to the court. The Narsingi Police Station registered a case against Mohammed Ibrahim for creating fake documents.
In a separate claim, members of the Pochaiah family also asserted rights over the same land in 2019, despite Ibrahim’s alleged documents dating the purchase to 1975.
Local Support for HYDRA Action
Local residents expressed relief and gratitude to HYDRA for protecting the valuable government land. They thanked Commissioner AV Ranganath for the swift action against land mafia operations.
Locals are now demanding that the protected area be developed according to city planning regulations, with proper allocation for open spaces and green zones. Residents congratulated the state government for establishing HYDRA as an effective system to combat land encroachments.
