Hyderabad: On Thursday, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) took action against illegal structures in the Jubilee Enclave Layout in Madhapur. They demolished encroachments on parks and roads, reclaiming 16,000 square yards of government land worth about Rs 400 crore. The layout, spread over 22.20 acres, includes 100 plots and four parks. Two parks, covering 8,500 square yards, were illegally occupied. Additionally, 5,000 square yards of road were taken over, and a hotel shed was built on 300 square yards of public land.
This government land is opposite the metal Charminar on the Madhapur-Kondapur road. The layout was approved in 1995 and regularized in 2006. Residents had complained during HYDRAA’s ‘Prajavani’ program that a man named Jaihind Reddy occupied the parks.
HYDRAA ACP Srikanth stated that on orders from Commissioner A V Ranganath, officials inspected the site, confirmed the illegal occupations, and carried out demolitions on Thursday. Police are filing cases against those involved. Srikanth, along with Inspectors Rajasekhar and Balagopal, oversaw the operation. They installed ‘Government Property’ signs and fenced the parks immediately after. Residents of the Jubilee Enclave accused Jaihind Reddy of constructing the illegal hotel and earning up to Rs 4 lakh monthly in rent. They questioned how the park land, regularized in 2006, could be altered without their consent. Locals appreciated HYDRAA’s actions, expressing relief over the protection of the parks.
