Gadwal is facing serious issues at the Bainapalle Paddy Procurement Center in Ieeja Mandal, part of the Alampur constituency in Jogulamba Gadwal district. Kuruvu Pallayya, a BRS state leader and district coordinator, accuses Congress leaders and procurement officials of irregular activities. They allegedly bring paddy from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh to sell at Bainapalle for illegal profits.
Local farmers in Bainapalle village are worried. They say people who haven’t grown paddy locally are selling large amounts at the center. Even after notifying the authorities, officials ignore these practices.
Farmers complain they lack essential supplies like jute bags, and their crops aren’t weighed for weeks. Meanwhile, paddy from Andhra Pradesh gets processed immediately. This situation frustrates and distresses local farmers.
A case involves a farmer named Ali, who allegedly didn’t grow paddy in Bainapalle. Yet, he brought 170 bags, about 70 quintals, and stored them privately instead of using the procurement center. This raises suspicions of fraud.
When farmers question these activities, threats and intimidation follow. They are warned their paddy won’t be bought if they protest. This atmosphere of fear prevents many from speaking out.
Kuruvu Pallayya demands the immediate suspension of the Agricultural Extension Officer (AEO) and other officials at the center. He criticizes the cheating of Telangana farmers and misuse of government schemes for personal gain, calling it a betrayal of farmers.
Farmers urge District Collector B.M. Santosh to step in, investigate the issue, and ensure fair treatment for Bainapalle’s genuine farmers.
