IMD issues heavy rain warning for today

Hyderabad experienced heavy rain early Sunday morning, flooding low-lying areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted more rainfall for Monday. They expect light to moderate rain from October 7 to 10 across the city.

A yellow alert has been issued for Monday, warning of heavy rain in Hyderabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, and Narayanpet districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30-40 km/h are likely in many parts of Telangana.

From October 7 to 10, the IMD forecasts light to moderate rain in various regions. On October 8, thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in Adilabad, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts. Similar weather is predicted for October 9 and 10.

Sunday’s heavy rain was due to cumulonimbus clouds. Many areas in Hyderabad like Jubilee Hill, Banjara Hills, Filmnagar, Yousafguda, Manikonda, Pension Office, Abids, Khairatabad, Panjagutta, and Lakdikapool faced significant rainfall, affecting daily life.
