Hyderabad: T Jagga Reddy, the Telangana PCC working president, and his wife have generously contributed Rs 10 lakh to help a visually impaired student regain his sight.
The student, Sampooran Naik, originally from Karnataka, settled in Kandi 15 months ago. Reddy and his wife hope he will successfully receive the needed treatment.
Reddy promised to inform Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha about such cases to ensure future medical assistance.
Naik, a BCom student, lost his vision due to weak optic nerves after a bike accident a year ago, which also left him in a coma for a month.
Naik’s parents have already spent Rs 5 lakh on his treatment for optic hydropsy. Doctors advised that two more treatments, costing about Rs 8 lakh, are necessary to restore his eyesight.
Experts suggested that combining acupuncture with stem cell regeneration could help in regaining his vision.
Facing financial constraints, Naik’s parents sought help from Jagga Reddy. Touched by Naik’s situation, Reddy and his wife offered their support by donating Rs 10 lakh for his treatment.
Reddy shared that he has been actively assisting patients in the Sangareddy constituency and is working to gain government support. He also mentioned their continued support for cancer patients in the area.
