Hyderabad: On Monday, the historic Kacheguda Railway Station will shine brightly as Union Minister G Kishan Reddy unveils its new lighting system. This project, backed by the Union Ministry of Tourism with a budget of Rs 2.23 crore, is designed to showcase the architectural and cultural significance of heritage sites.
Minister Kishan Reddy highlighted the government’s dedication to enhancing the beauty of historical structures. Built in 1916 during the Nizam era, the station features Gothic architecture and now boasts 785 lighting fixtures. These lights will enhance its grandeur and historical charm, especially at night.
Located in the heart of the city, Kacheguda Railway Station serves thousands daily and is set to become a cultural and visual icon with its new lighting. The lights will also help visitors appreciate the station’s rich history.
The station is not just a heritage landmark; it is also a leader in green infrastructure. It has earned a Platinum Rating from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its commitment to sustainability through green energy. Recognized as an Energy-Efficient Station by Indian Railways, it was also the first station to offer digital payments.
Looking to the future, the station will undergo major redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. With Rs 421.66 crore allocated, the station will improve passenger amenities while preserving its historic legacy.
