Hyderabad: On Monday, BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha urged poets and writers to point out flaws in governance, emphasizing the culture of questioning inherent in Telangana.
She attended the ‘Yuva Keratalu Kavi Sammelan,’ organized by Telangana Jagruti at Telangana Saraswatha Parishad in Abids during the celebration of Telangana State Formation Day. Kavitha highlighted that Telangana Jagruti has worked to preserve Telangana’s cultural heritage and uniqueness by encouraging young children to learn Bathukamma songs.
Kavitha expressed confidence that the works of young poets would help Telangana literature thrive for centuries. She noted that poets under 35 participated in the event, where they shared their poems. “KCR acted as a guiding light, leading the movement. Today, we commemorate the separate Telangana state achieved through his efforts and the sacrifices of many,” she stated. Kavitha emphasized that poets must not submit to any ruler and should always identify administrative flaws.
She advised poets and literary figures to continue this critical role, regardless of who holds power.
“A true poet speaks truthfully under all circumstances. Poets and writers have vividly depicted the fight for a separate Telangana, the sacrifices made, and the injustices faced in the undivided state,” Kavitha remarked.
