Hyderabad: G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Coal and Mines, has invited the Telangana Government to join a significant renewable energy project. This initiative is led by Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) under his ministry.
On Thursday, the Minister sent a letter to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He detailed a plan to invest around Rs 10,000 crore to enhance the state’s green power infrastructure.
The letter emphasized the national importance of the project. Key CPSUs like Coal India Limited (CIL) and Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited (NLCIL) are ready to introduce advanced renewable energy projects with Telangana’s collaboration. These projects include solar and wind power plants, pumped storage projects (PSPs), and modern battery energy storage systems (BESS) to improve grid reliability.
The Central Government aims to develop high solar potential areas in Telangana quickly and conduct feasibility studies for PSPs. To speed up the process and increase local economic benefits, joint ventures will be set up with either Telangana State PSUs or directly with central coal companies.
The success of these projects depends on timely support from the State Government, especially in land acquisition. Minister Kishan Reddy stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the Centre and State to enhance India’s energy security and environmental goals.
He reaffirmed the Central Government’s commitment to aiding Telangana’s green development and recognized the state’s significant potential in renewable energy. According to the Minister, these projects will not only boost economic growth but also help Telangana lead in India’s sustainable energy shift.
The Union Minister encouraged CM Revanth Reddy to prioritize these initiatives and promised full support from all CPSUs under the Ministry of Coal.
