Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy recently visited Gandhi Hospital, the largest government hospital in Secunderabad, which he represents in parliament.
After his visit, he spoke to the media, discussing his inquiries about the hospital’s facilities and services. His visit followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to inspect government hospitals, especially with the rise in COVID-19 cases. Reddy highlighted the need for hospital staff to stay alert and strengthen COVID-19 safety measures for the public.
While touring Gandhi Hospital, Reddy learned about available facilities and emphasized the ongoing development of treatments due to the high patient volume. He pointed out the urgent need to fill Resident Medical Officer (RMO) positions, as new departments have been established. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, patients receive cards linked to their Aadhaar numbers, allowing treatment access at Gandhi Hospital and other healthcare centers.
Reddy mentioned that two oxygen plants were set up at the hospital during the pandemic on the Prime Minister’s orders and are still in use. He stressed the importance of further enhancing Gandhi Hospital’s facilities for the future.
