Hyderabad: Government Advisor K Keshava Rao has assured contract lecturers, part-time lecturers, academic consultants, and time-scale teachers that their concerns will be taken seriously. These educators were worried about losing their jobs after the government announced plans to directly recruit Assistant Professors in 12 State universities.
Rao said their issues would be looked into with a compassionate approach and brought to the attention of the Chief Minister. He added that the Chief Minister is committed to improving education standards while also considering the welfare of existing teachers.
Rao praised the Chief Minister’s decision to fill 50 percent of the vacant lecturer posts in Telangana universities. He said this shows the CM’s focus on strengthening the education sector.
He also mentioned that he had earlier warned the government about the risk of universities losing their NAAC grading due to a lack of lecturers. After raising this concern, the Chief Minister quickly responded and issued new guidelines to address the issue.
According to Rao, universities haven’t hired lecturers for nearly 10 years, which has caused major problems for students. The new recruitment plan is aimed at solving this long-standing issue.
