Hyderabad: On Tuesday, KT Rama Rao, the working president of BRS, arrived at the Press Club in Somajiguda. He was there to respond to a debate challenge issued by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Rama Rao was accompanied by many supporters. He noted that Revanth Reddy has a history of avoiding his own challenges and announced that he would give the Chief Minister another chance to join the debate. Rama Rao reached the venue at 11 AM, ready to discuss the issues faced by Telangana’s farmers. However, the Chief Minister did not attend because he was in New Delhi.
After waiting for 30 minutes, Rama Rao spoke to the media, accusing Revanth Reddy of evading his own challenge. He claimed that the Chief Minister’s absence showed that the Congress government lacked solutions for the farmers’ problems. Rama Rao highlighted that over 600 farmers had committed suicide since Congress took power and questioned if the Chief Minister had even acknowledged their plight. He also criticized the delay in fulfilling the promise of implementing six guarantees within 100 days, noting that 18 months had passed without any being met.
Rama Rao brought detailed information to the press club, including names and contacts of farmers in Kodangal who hadn’t received Rythu Bharosa benefits, those whose loans weren’t waived, and others who suffered due to crop failures. He criticized Revanth Reddy’s governance, stating that the Congress regime had pushed the state back into issues like fertilizer shortages and power supply problems. He labeled the current rule as an “Indiramma Emergency,” implying oppressive measures and unfulfilled promises.
Rama Rao further accused the Chief Minister of secretly aiding Chandrababu Naidu by diverting Telangana’s Krishna and Godavari waters to Andhra Pradesh. He mocked Revanth Reddy’s aggressive rhetoric, stating that while he was loud and offensive, he avoided fact-based debates. Rama Rao mentioned that even if Revanth couldn’t attend, he should have sent the Deputy CM or the Agriculture Minister.
Offering yet another chance, Rama Rao said, “Pick any time, date, and place for an open debate. Even Jubilee Hills Palace works if that suits him. Stop making empty challenges and running away. If you can’t face a debate, then apologize to KCR and Telangana’s farmers for your false promises and failures.”
