A large rock fell on the Manchirevula service road near Hyderabad on Thursday, causing chaos for commuters. The boulder slid down from a rocky hill, completely blocking the road on the city’s outskirts.
Officials suspect that several days of heavy rain loosened the rock, leading to its fall. The incident obstructed vehicles and created a significant traffic disruption in Hyderabad. The Cyberabad Traffic Police responded quickly, securing the area and directing traffic while starting to clear the road.
Drivers heading from TGPA to Narsingi were advised to take a detour at the Manchirevula underpass, using the Narsingi-Kokapet Service Road to reach Narsingi Rotary 2. This diversion helped prevent major traffic jams during the clearing process.
Witnesses reported that the unexpected rock fall startled drivers, causing them to stop suddenly. Thankfully, no one was injured. Large machines were deployed to break and remove the boulder, with police and local authorities working together to reopen the road swiftly.
This incident in Telangana highlights the risk of rockslides in hilly areas during the monsoon season. Commuters are urged to remain vigilant and cautious.
