Laura E. Williams is now the new US Consul General in Hyderabad. She is a seasoned member of the US Senior Foreign Service and brings significant experience in diplomacy, technology, and innovation. Williams aims to enhance the partnership between the US and India in the regions of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
Before this role, Williams was the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Enterprise Services at the US Department of State. She oversaw the IT platforms that link diplomats in Washington with embassies around the world. Throughout her career, she has focused on protecting sensitive data, improving knowledge management, and using innovative technology to boost public diplomacy.
Williams has worked overseas in Nicosia, Algiers, Rome, and Mexico City. Before joining the Foreign Service, she was a contractor with the US Navy Submarine Command, the US Department of State’s Consular Affairs Bureau, and the US Agency for International Development.
