Wanaparthy: The Pebbair Market, located in the municipal centre, is a government-owned property that generates about Rs 3.5 crore each year. In 1954, during the reign of the Suguru kingdom, 30.19 acres of land were allocated for the Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple to support its rituals and offerings. Later, in 1981, a market was established on this temple land, and it has been in operation ever since.

Recently, a man named Neelam Gowd allegedly attempted to take control of this valuable land. Reports say that he brought around 50 people from Rayalaseema and blocked all three entrances to the market with soil, trying to seize the property. The market contractors and local residents, about 300 families who depend on the market for their daily livelihood, confronted Gowd. This led to a tense situation, with the locals warning him to stay away from the market land.

In response to the incident, the local citizens organized a protest at Subhash Chowrasta. They also filed a complaint with the Pebbair police, asking for legal action to be taken against Neelam Gowd.
