Khanapur: On Wednesday, irrigation water was provided for the Kharif season at Sadar Mat Aya Katta in Khanapur mandal, Nirmal district. MLA Bojju Patel announced during the event that the Sadar Mat Canal was cleaned of trees and debris for Rs 39 lakhs, ensuring uninterrupted water supply. He urged farmers to use water carefully.
Farmers were encouraged to finish their field preparations and start planting seeds promptly. Bojju Patel mentioned that early sowing leads to early sprouting, while late planting might result in crop failure. He noted that water, once released from the completed Sadar Mat barrage at Ponkal, will directly reach Sadar Mat Katta.
The event was attended by several local leaders and officials, including E E Vitthal, former Khanapur Municipal Corporation chairman Ankam Rajender, AMC chairman Bhushan, former vice chairman Majid, former chairman Kadarla Ganga Narasaiah, Congress party mandal president Dhonikeni Dayanand, and leaders Yusuf Ahmed Khan, Thota Satyam, Akula Venka Goud, Jangili Shankar, Tirupati Goud, Abbu Boy, Seshadri, among others.
