Hyderabad recently made significant progress in aiding victims of cybercrime. During the National Lok Adalat, the city successfully refunded Rs 9.29 crore across 941 cases of online fraud. This initiative, which brought together the judiciary and police, efficiently resolved numerous legal issues and helped those defrauded online recover their money.
In this latest Lok Adalat, Hyderabad took up 1,977 FIR cases and an impressive 21,394 E-petty cases. These included incidents related to drunken driving, disaster management, and breaches of the City Police Act, alongside 3,803 traffic violations. Daily hearings for refunds under Rs 25,000 are now conducted, following directives from the Sessions Judge and the Cyber Crime Police.
The Zonal Cyber Cells (ZCCs) played a crucial role, securing Rs 1.5 crore in refunds. Meanwhile, the Cyber Crimes Police Station (CCPS) led initiatives that returned Rs 7.7 crore to victims. Over the last three Mega Lok Adalats, ZCCs returned a total of Rs 2.81 crore, showcasing a remarkable increase in efficiency: handled cases rose by 137% and refunds surged by 187% from March to September 2025.
Key figures from March to September 2025 are as follows: In March, 294 cases resulted in Rs 52,38,057 refunded. By June, 433 cases led to Rs 78,19,212 being returned. In September, 697 cases saw refunds of Rs 1,50,58,761. Overall, 1,424 cases resulted in a total refund of Rs 2,81,15,030 through three Lok Adalats.
