Hyderabad: Tensions are rising within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) as internal conflicts spill into public view. Telangana Congress leaders, including TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, accused K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) of trying to divert attention from his own party’s troubles by attacking Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Speaking to reporters separately, both leaders said that KTR is attempting to shift the focus away from the controversy involving his sister, MLC K. Kavitha, by targeting the Congress government. They claimed that his recent statements show panic and desperation.
“Instead of pointing fingers at Revanth Reddy, KTR should first respond to what his own sister said about their party,” said Mahesh Kumar Goud.
He added that Kavitha’s remarks have exposed deep cracks within the BRS. By calling out past mistakes of the TRS (now BRS) during its 10-year rule, she created a storm that KTR is struggling to contain. Goud accused KTR of lashing out at the Congress because he can’t handle the damage caused by internal family conflicts.
“Kavitha has presented herself as a rival power center within the party, challenging KTR’s influence. He should first fix his own house before commenting on others,” Goud stated.
He also mentioned that KTR is scared of the legal troubles ahead. The enforcement notices sent to former Chief Minister KCR over alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram project have left the BRS leadership uneasy.
Goud further claimed that Kavitha’s statements reveal a possible secret understanding between the BRS and BJP. This, he said, has caused the party to split into three factions. He noted that Harish Rao, another key BRS leader, is watching the rivalry between KTR and Kavitha closely, likely waiting for his chance to act.
“The BRS is losing its grip on Telangana politics. KCR appears helpless, retreating to his farmhouse and staying silent,” Goud remarked.
Meanwhile, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar demanded that KTR clarify who the ‘demons’ are that Kavitha mentioned in her criticism of KCR’s inner circle. “Before attacking the Congress, KTR should answer his sister’s questions. Who are the people she referred to as demons surrounding KCR?” he asked.
The Congress leaders made it clear: before pointing fingers at others, KTR must address the growing unrest within his own party and family.
