Warangal, Telangana – Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGM) is facing serious criticism after a surprise visit by Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy on Saturday. His unexpected inspection came after several complaints from patients about poor hospital conditions and neglect.
The MLA didn’t hold back. He issued a clear warning to the hospital staff: “Work properly or leave.”
Patients have reported shocking issues at MGM. Medical equipment is poorly maintained, and many staff members are often missing during duty hours. Even more disturbing, rodents and snakes have been spotted in hospital wards. In some cases, rats have bitten patients, highlighting the unsafe and unhygienic environment.
During the inspection, MLC Baswaraj Saraiah and KUDA Chairman E Venkatram Reddy joined the MLA. The team visited several key areas of the hospital including the emergency ward, X-ray room, ultrasound and CT scan units, oxygen plant, pharmacy, and children’s ward.
The leaders also spoke directly with patients about the services and the quality of food. They found filthy conditions in multiple wards and noticed that important registers were not being maintained properly.
MLA Naini expressed strong disappointment with the hospital’s management. He pointed out that MGM Hospital is a critical lifeline for thousands of poor and middle-class patients across North Telangana, and also serves people from neighboring Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
He criticized the hospital administration for being negligent and said it’s time for them to take serious action. “If the staff can’t commit to their work,” he warned, “they are free to go on leave or request a transfer.”
The MLA directed his final remarks to Superintendent Dr. Kishore Kumar, urging him to fix the issues immediately.
The visit has sparked hope among some patients that long-overdue changes may finally be on the way.
