Meeting Convened to Address Challenges Facing India’s Unorganised Sector

Hyderabad: A consultation programme called ‘Towards Positive Employer-Labour Relations – Role of Social Partners’ was held on Wednesday at the India Industrial Relations Association (IIRA) South India Section. The event took place at Ashok Hotel in the city.

Praveen Sinha, the national general secretary of IIRA, highlighted that nearly 80 percent of jobs in India are unorganised and temporary. He emphasized the need for the government to take special measures to address these labour issues.

Anup Srivastava, a Labour and Industrial Relations (IR) advisor, pointed out the necessity of revising India’s labour conditions, describing them as inhumane.

Prof. Ram Reddy also spoke at the event, discussing the changes that are expected in industrial relations in the current times.

The consultation programme saw participation from various leaders and experts, including IIRA, INTUC, BMS, AITUC, HMS State Trade Union leaders, HR professionals Maddela Ramchander, Y Venkatesh Goud, and Uma Mahesh, as well as Professors Ram Reddy, Aryasree, and Janardhan.
