Hyderabad: The slow processing of the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) has upset Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He is unhappy with the large number of applications still waiting for approval.

During a video conference with district collectors on Tuesday, the Minister said that many people have been waiting for LRS approvals for the past four years. He instructed the collectors to clear the pending applications quickly. The Minister also pointed out that the process is not moving as fast as the government had hoped, and in some districts, thousands of applications are still unresolved.

According to a report by The Hans India on September 27, out of 2.57 crore LRS applications in the state, only around 60,000 layouts have been approved. The government has collected over Rs 96 crore from these approvals.

Regarding Urban Development, the Minister asked the collectors to send proposals for expanding the Urban Development Authorities (UDAs) and creating new ones.

On the issue of flood relief, the Minister mentioned that the state government has allocated funds to help districts affected by recent heavy rains. Rs 3 crore has been given to 29 districts, and Rs 5 crore each to Khammam, Suryapet, Kothagudem, and Mahabubabad. Additionally, Rs 1 crore each has been allocated to municipalities and Rs 2 crore each to corporations. The focus is on repairing damage, especially in flood-affected areas. The Minister urged the collectors to prioritize repairs to government schools, primary health centres, and Anganwadi centres.

Lastly, the Minister shared that the government is providing a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal for 35 fine varieties of grain in this kharif season. He also mentioned that 7,144 procurement centres are being set up across the state to buy paddy. Separate centres will handle the purchase of fine grain and paddy grain.
