Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has appealed to RTC employees to reconsider their plan to go on strike. He urged them to think about the larger interest of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) and its future.
The Minister responded after workers issued a strike notice. He assured that the state government is serious about addressing their concerns. He acknowledged the key role RTC workers played during the movement for Telangana statehood and said their welfare is a top priority.
Prabhakar emphasized that the government is working to improve passenger convenience, ensure the stability of RTC, and support the employees. He added that, as a former activist, he shares a close bond with the organization and is open to holding discussions with the workers.
He pointed out that RTC had faced stagnation for the past 10 years. However, since the new government took charge, all pending dues have been cleared, and the corporation is now on the path to financial recovery.
Highlighting recent improvements, the Minister said RTC is slowly turning profitable. He urged workers to reflect on the progress made and reconsider the strike, suggesting that cooperation is key to the organization’s revival.
