Hyderabad: Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao criticized the central government over ongoing disagreements about funding. He promised that the ‘Work to Owner’ scheme would continue, no matter the difficulties.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, he responded strongly to those questioning the state’s financial role. He said, “Some people say it’s their money. But it’s not your father’s property, and it’s not ours either. When the Centre gives 70 paise, the state also gives 30 paise.”
He added that state governments play a major role in supporting the Centre. “They claim the Centre is giving funds, but they want to show someone else’s photo on the schemes. We are the ones paying taxes. The Chief Minister’s photo should be displayed on the central schemes in our state,” he said.
Minister Tummala’s comments show the growing tension between Telangana’s state government and the central government about who gets credit and how much each contributes to development programs.
