Text Size: 100%

The Telangana State Drugs Control Administration (DCA) found medicines in the market with false claims on their labels, saying they can treat pneumonia and diabetes. One such medicine is Ortho Win Gold Oil, made by Pharma Research Lab in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The label on this Ayurvedic medicine wrongly claims it can treat pneumonia.

According to the DCA, making false claims about medicines is against the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. This law prohibits advertising certain drugs for specific diseases. The DCA raided a medical shop in Gandipet, Rangareddy district, and seized stocks of the misleading medicine.

Anyone who advertises drugs with false claims for treating diseases can face punishment under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. The penalties may include up to six months in prison, a fine, or both.
