In Jogulamba Gadwal district, an elderly woman from Maldakal Mandal is facing a heartbreaking situation. She has accused her sons of neglecting her after she transferred her property to them. This complaint was made during a Prajavani grievance redressal program on Monday.
The woman, who has four sons, explained that three of them each received 39 acres from her through gift deeds. After the transfer, they abandoned her and refused to provide her with meals. She tearfully shared her story with the District Collector.
Despite begging her sons for just one meal a day, they offered her ₹50,000 each instead of taking care of her. She rejected the money, wanting only basic care, which they denied.
Her youngest son initially showed kindness by taking her in. However, since he received no land, he too eventually asked her to leave.
Desperate for help, the woman approached District Collector B.Y.M. Santosh through the Prajavani platform, asking for the land to be returned to her. She argued that her sons violated the spirit of her gift by not caring for her.
This case has drawn public anger and concern among officials, illustrating a troubling trend where elderly parents are neglected after transferring assets. The Collector acknowledged the complaint and plans to investigate further.
This situation highlights the increasing replacement of family values with greed, leaving many vulnerable elders alone in their later years.
