Hyderabad: Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi has called on the Chief Minister of Telangana to set up Lake Protection Committees in all districts of the state. These committees would be responsible for safeguarding the water bodies.
Speaking to the media, MP Mallu Ravi expressed concern about the neglect and encroachment of lakes in Telangana over the past decade. He accused the previous Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, of failing to prioritize the protection of lakes, despite promising to make Telangana prosperous.
Ravi highlighted that after the Congress came to power, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took decisive action to address the issue. The actions initiated by the Hyderabad Authority for Development and Regulation of Aquatic Areas (HYDRAA) have been widely welcomed by people across various sections of society. He believes that forming lake protection committees across the state would further enhance efforts to preserve these water bodies.
The MP also addressed concerns regarding the potential demolition of educational institution buildings. He assured that no action would be taken during the ongoing academic year. However, he mentioned that once schools and colleges go on holiday, steps may be taken.
