Hyderabad: Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, the Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), shared new plans from the NCC Headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday.
He talked about several initiatives, such as enrolling cadets online and using technology in training, like drones. Cadets will now receive dress allowances, and there’s a focus on ensuring equal opportunities for both genders in the corps. Many schools and colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are eager to join NCC programs.
The goal is to include three lakh cadets nationwide, meeting the aspirations of young people across India. During his two-day visit to the NCC Directorate for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, starting Wednesday, the Director General was briefed by Air Commodore Narsingh Sailani, Deputy Director General of the NCC Directorate (AP & T), and other Group Commanders.
He reviewed enrolment and training standards and interacted with cadets and staff from the 1 (Telangana) Girls Battalion NCC.
The review of operations included discussions on achievements, challenges, and future plans of the NCC Groups. Topics covered included online enrolment, annual training camps, community service, logistics, adventure, and military training, as well as preparing for Thal, Vayu, and Nau Sainik Camps.
During his visit to the 1 Telangana Girls Battalion NCC in Secunderabad, cadets showcased their discipline with a Guard of Honour.
Lt Gen Singh praised the dedication of the NCC Directorate (AP & T) in Secunderabad, including cadets, staff, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), Group Commanders (GCIs), and civilian staff. He encouraged cadets to excel in all fields, whether in the armed forces, public service, or civil society roles. He urged them to “dream big, stay disciplined, and uphold the NCC values of Unity and Discipline.”
