The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent a fresh notice to Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand. The Commission wants a clear and detailed explanation about the crowd stampede at Sandhya Theater during the premiere of the movie Pushpa.
The NHRC had already asked for a report back in January, but wasn’t satisfied with the response. According to the NHRC, the police report failed to explain key mistakes and lacked important details.
One major concern is the role of the local police during the incident. The theater is located very close to a police station, yet no quick action was taken. The NHRC questioned how such a large crowd was allowed to gather, play loud music, and cause disruptions without any police intervention.
The police claimed the stampede happened because of the unexpected arrival of film star Allu Arjun. His sudden appearance caused fans to rush forward, leading to chaos. The report also stated that officers did not use force or batons to control the crowd.
However, the NHRC pointed out a serious issue—Allu Arjun attended the event even though there was no official permission for a special screening or public appearance. The Commission asked why police didn’t take steps to prevent the situation, especially knowing the actor’s huge fan following.
The NHRC is now demanding a more detailed report explaining how the situation was allowed to get out of control, and what actions police took—or failed to take—before and during the incident.
