Hyderabad – The National Medical Commission (NMC) has warned students about fake medical colleges and unapproved foreign medical programs.
In a notice released on Tuesday, Dr. Raghav Langer, Secretary of the NMC, urged students and parents to be cautious. He said some institutions are falsely claiming they are recognized and offering medical courses without the required approval.
These unauthorized colleges are operating in violation of Indian medical education laws. They often lure students by promising valid degrees, but their programs are not approved by the NMC.
Dr. Langer stressed that only medical colleges officially approved by the NMC can offer valid medical education in India. He advised students to always check the NMC’s official list of recognized institutions before applying.
The advisory also reminded students who plan to study medicine abroad to follow all the rules set by the NMC. This includes enrolling in NMC-approved foreign programs and ensuring the degree is valid for practicing medicine in India.
The NMC emphasized the importance of verifying a college’s status to avoid falling victim to scams. It warned that enrolling in an unrecognized program could prevent students from registering as doctors in India.
Students and parents are encouraged to visit the official NMC website for updated information on recognized medical colleges and approved international medical programs.
Choosing the right medical college is a crucial step. The NMC’s alert serves as a strong reminder to do thorough research before making any decision.
