An event focusing on the dangers of drugs took place on Thursday at Nellikonda Government Science Degree College in Nagar Kurnool. District Collector Badavath Santosh and District SP Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath were the main speakers, addressing the students directly.
Collector Santosh advised students to avoid drugs and prioritize their future. He explained how drug abuse can ruin education and harm both physical and mental health. He noted that drugs, once an urban problem, are now spreading to rural areas, threatening local cultures and traditions. He encouraged students to embrace the mindset: “My growth and my family’s responsibility are my priorities, leaving no room for drugs.” He urged them to become advocates for a drug-free district.
SP Vaibhav Raghunath promised strict measures against drug trafficking and use. He encouraged students to report any suspicious activities by calling 100 or 112, ensuring their anonymity. He stressed that students have the power to change society and must be instrumental in eliminating drugs. “The future of the nation is in your hands. Stay healthy, think positively, and avoid the dangers of drugs. The police are here to support you, so move forward with confidence,” he stated.
The officials later distributed a pamphlet promoting drug-free awareness and honored two students who excelled in a state-level drawing competition with the theme “Say No to Drugs.”
The program saw attendance from College Principal Madan Mohan, Nagarkurnool DSP Burri Srinivasulu, CI Ashok Reddy, SI Govardhan, senior lecturers, Anti-Drug Coordinator Vanitha, Academic Coordinator Anjaiah, faculty members, and many students.
