Hyderabad: Osmania University, in partnership with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) and the ISRO Outreach Facility, organized an event called the “Space on Wheels” exhibition. This event took place at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in the OU College of Engineering on Thursday.
The main goal of the exhibition was to raise awareness and spark interest in space technology among students. It aimed to encourage students to explore space science and learn more about ISRO’s groundbreaking activities. The event also highlighted the importance of making science and technology accessible to everyone.
Around 1,000 people attended the exhibition, including students and faculty from both government and private colleges. One of the main attractions was a 3D model of the moon that showed the Chandrayaan-3 landing site, known as Shivashakti Point. Additionally, visitors could see models of various launch vehicles like the GSLV MK-III, PSLV, ASLV, SLV-3, and RLVTD, as well as models of satellites such as Ocean Sat, RISAT, and Chandrayaan-1 and 2.
Professor P. Naveen Kumar, a professor in the ECE department, pointed out that the exhibition gave students a rare chance to interact with physical models of ISRO missions, helping them to better understand space science.
The event also included a slogan competition focused on ISRO’s Gaganyaan mission. Three winners were chosen and received prizes. Additionally, posters and panels related to ISRO outreach activities, remote sensing applications, Chandrayaan, and Mangalyaan were displayed, adding to the overall experience for everyone who attended, according to a senior officer from Osmania University.
