Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, along with Moghalpura Police, arrested three people for buying and selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections without a proper license. The police seized 102 vials of the drug, worth around Rs 1.20 lakh. Those arrested include Syed Asad (28), Ahmed Qureshi (30), and a minor referred to as a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL).
According to the police, Asad originally bought the injections online from India Mart in New Delhi for personal use. Later, he began buying larger quantities and selling them illegally with the help of Ahmed and the minor. They sold the injections to people around Hari Bowli X Roads to make quick money.
After receiving a tip-off, the police caught them and registered a case under sections 318(4) and 278 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate case, the South Zone Task Force and Chaderghat Police arrested Mohd Imran, also known as Kala Imran. He was caught selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections, Alprazolam tablets, and Ganja. Police seized 110 vials of Mephentermine, 60 Alprazolam tablets, and 3 kg of Ganja. The total value of the items is estimated at Rs 2 lakh.
Imran is a well-known criminal with 15 previous cases against him. He was detained under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act in 2015. He reportedly started using Mephentermine injections himself and later began selling them along with other banned substances near Maharaja Hotel in Wahed Nagar, Old Malakpet.
Police warned that Mephentermine Sulphate injections can have dangerous side effects such as high blood pressure and even heart attacks. It is a Schedule H drug, which means it should only be sold with a valid prescription from a registered doctor.
Alprazolam tablets can also be harmful if taken without medical advice. Side effects include poor coordination, low blood pressure, confusion, difficulty speaking, and other mental health issues.
