In Hyderabad, police made a significant arrest involving a group trying to sell drugs. The Cyberabad Special Operation Teams from the Balanagar zone, along with Kukatpally Police, caught the group near Kukatpally. Among them was a police constable from Andhra Pradesh. They seized drugs valued at Rs 1 crore.
The group included Gunashekar, a supplier, and Tirupati, a constable. Others involved were Unnam Surendra alias Suri, Dothireddy Haribabu Reddy, Chegudi Mercy Margaret, Shaik Masthan Vali, Devaraju YesuBabu, all from Andhra Pradesh, and Appanna, a peddler from Bangalore. They were caught in Jaya Nagar, Kukatpally, with 820 grams of cocaine mixed with ephedrine, a digital scale, and five mobile phones.
Police investigations revealed that Gunasekhar, a Task Force Police constable, planned to sell ephedrine for profit. Surendra and his associates aimed to sell the drugs in Hyderabad due to high demand.
N Koti Reddy, DCP of Balanagar Zone, stated that on May 29, Surendra collected the drugs from Gunashekar in Tirupati and traveled to Hyderabad. They planned to sell the drugs at Jaya Nagar, Kukatpally. On June 2, while searching for buyers near Bhagyanagar, Kukatpally, police noticed suspicious behavior and stopped them.
One suspect tried to escape but was caught. Upon search, police recovered 820 grams of cocaine-ephedrine, a digital scale, and mobile phones. The seizure followed NDPS Act procedures.
Cyberabad Police advised parents to monitor their children’s activities and report any suspicious behavior to the police.
